Maxim Healthcare Services is a longstanding supporter of the ALS Association as it works toward a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), sometimes known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. 2024 was the tenth anniversary of the original Ice Bucket Challenge, which inspired the CEO Soak fundraiser.
The ALS Association
The ALS Association is the world’s largest ALS organization, comprised of volunteers and dedicated staff members. Its mission is “to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.” Due to the success of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and contributions by donors, the association has been able to fund the development of new ALS treatments, discover new ALS genes, create global research collaborations and expand access to ALS care.
Giving back to our communities
This year, several Maxim team members participated in 11 CEO Soak events across the country to contribute to fundraising and bringing awareness toward efforts for a cure. The CEO Soak is a blend of corporate engagement and philanthropy. CEOs, business professionals and community leaders make a splash in fountains, pools, dunk tanks or ice buckets to promote ALS awareness.
Through our 2024 soak events, Maxim team members raised over $23,000 with passion, creativity and a heart to serve. We are also avid supporters of local ALS walks and have helped raise just shy of $150,000 for communities across the country.
We want to thank our soakee participants and our Military and Federal Homecare Team for annually coordinating participants spanning job families and levels of leadership. We also are grateful to Maxim’s President, Jarrod DePriest and Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Kellie Lanier, for their continued support, which included some cannonball soaks in 2023!
We are excited to continue this initiative in coming years and are steadfast in our commitment to make ALS a livable disease for everyone until there is a cure.
